Taking a break in our semi-regular programming to pop in with a recap of my favorite things from month one in London! I thought this would be a fun way to summarize the best things I did and tried this month, from food to activities. I’ll include my top three in each category!
food
- Dishoom, hands down, takes the cake. I’ve tried many new restaurants and types of food during my first month, but the Indian from Dishoom wins out. The food was so flavorful and the atmosphere was incredible. I can’t wait to go back and even try another location! For more information, see my post at london week four.
- Dukkah comes in at a close second, with the best hummus I’ve had in my life to date. The Middle Eastern cuisine was fantastic and I’m looking forward to living closer to Dalston, so I can easily go back for dinner. I went here during london week one!
- The Laundry in Brixton rounds us out at number three. I ate here during london week three and while I have no photographic evidence, unfortunately, I had the best burrata – it was drizzled in truffle thyme honey and couldn’t have been a better combination of flavors.
pubs
- Punch & Judy in Covent Garden is my favorite pub so far! I’ve been twice and both times the atmosphere has been very fun. The music is good, they have soccer matches on, and the beers are cold – I think they even have an “extra cold” Guinness. The location is very central, so easy to pop in after work or meet up with friends from other neighborhoods.
- The Ship in Wandsworth was so much fun – it only didn’t win out for first place because it’s a bit of a hike to get to. The vibes were great and they played throwbacks, so what more could you ask for?!
- The Prince Alfred in Maida Vale is number three! I felt like I was in a set for Peaky Blinders because it felt very British here. The pub has different sections that you have to basically duck through doorways to get into. They had the normal selections of beers and I enjoyed my Camden Hells!
activities
- Visiting Greenwich and enjoying my time in the park there was fantastic. I had great weather and the ferry ride was so picturesque. Next time I visit, I definitely want to bring a picnic and spend the afternoon enjoying the sights.
- Walking around the Natural History Museum during week two was another highlight and getting to see Dippy the Dino! I’m looking forward to going back during Christmastime because they have a fun ice rink outside of the Museum.
- Making new friends! I have been incredibly lucky to join a great group at work where everyone is down for a fun time and random activities. I’ve also been meeting up with old friends and new friends of friends. Everyone has been so friendly and I’m thrilled to have found a new community in this foreign country. Can’t wait for many more adventures over the next two years!
- Bonus: Candlelight ABBA tribute concert that I went to during week one! This was such a cool experience and I can’t wait to go to another (Ed Sheeran in November!!). They have them in cities all over, check out Fever’s website to see if there’s a show near you!

I also wanted to say thank you to you for reading and following along! I hope these posts inspire you to visit London or go out and try new things. If you’re visiting, let me know!! My recap of week five will be up soon – I’m finally moving this week (!!!!!!!), so bear with me as I get settled and am a bit delayed on my post about last week.
Until then, friends! Cheers 🙂
