los nuevos amigos

Today, I’ve made new friends in Tordesillas! We had lunch at Rosa’s parents’ house with her niece and nephew, Maria and Manuel. I’m getting used to the big lunches now and small dinners. Maria goes to the university in Valladolid and has so kindly invited me to go out with her and her friends and stay over her apartment! Will definitely be taking her up on that 😀 At Rosa’s parent’s house, unlike Juanjo’s parent’s house, we had a “sobremesa” which is when we stay at the table after eating and have coffee/dessert and talk for a very long time. Sobremesas can last until dinner sometimes!! Most Spanish families have sobremesas, but not Juanjo’s. Maria got out the Spanish brand of Bailey’s and I had a glass in honor of St. Patrick’s Day!

After the sobremesa, I met up with Teresa and Claudia, who are twins and family friends. They both speak great English! We took Teresa’s dog to a nearby park where we met up with two of their guy friends, Fran and Kiki (could be spelling this wrong). We hung out at the park for a while, then went to a nearby cafe and met up with more of their friends. Everyone was so nice! They spoke in Spanish for me to hear and try to understand and when I couldn’t, they explained in English what was going on. The group goes for coffee everyday at 6 and have invited me along. I’m so thankful everyone’s so welcoming and helpful.

Earlier in the day, Rosa took me on a walk around Tordesillas and I took a couple of pictures. I can’t get over how beautiful the town is and how nice the weather is! I can already tell it’s going to be hard to leave in 3 months!
